Mavrovouni
The beach of Mavrovouni is more than 4 kilometers long and has been awarded with a “Blue Flag”. It is also the place where the loggerhead sea turtle Caretta- Caretta lays her eggs in the summer.
There are many cafeterias and traditional taverns (especially in the summer season) as well as a supermarket (all year long) within a walking distance from the hotel (700 meters and 500 meters respectively).
The village of Mavrovouni is 1.5 kilometer away from the “Stavros tou Notou” Hotel. There are many traditional taverns located in the main square, where you can taste the local cuisine.
Gythio
2,5 kilometers away from the hotel, you will find a picturesque town called Gythio. Gythio is not only the second biggest town of Lakonia, but also the “gate” and capital town of famous “Mani”.
Gythio is an impressively beautiful seaside town, built on the foothills of mount “Larisios”. Other than neoclassic houses, you will also find fish taverns that hold a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood, “ouzo bars” where you can taste roast octopus as well as cafeterias and bars.
Gythio is literally the “gate” of Lakonia, as ships that go to both Kithera and Crete sail from its port.
